OEBL Head Start History and Photos

Ophelia Brown-Lawson Head Start Center was designed for Miami-Dade County’s Community Action Agency by Maria Luisa Castellanos, Registered Architect and President of United Architects, Inc. This 14,800 square foot, $3.4 million facility in Miami Gardens provides a pre-school program with a capacity for 120 students. The building was creatively designed to not appear institutional. Its playfulness with the curves and colors is intended to appeal to pre-schoolers. It was named for Ophelia E. Brown-Lawson on October 28, 2009.
