OEBL Head Start History and Photos

Ophelia Brown-Lawson Head Start Center was designed for Miami-Dade County’s Community Action Agency by Maria Luisa Castellanos, Registered Architect and President of United Architects, Inc. This 14,800 square foot, $3.4 million facility in Miami Gardens provides a pre-school program with a capacity for 120 students. The building was creatively designed to not appear institutional. Its playfulness with the curves and colors is intended to appeal to pre-schoolers. It was named for Ophelia E. Brown-Lawson on October 28, 2009. Welcome Parents!

Welcome to the Official OEBL Head Start Blog. As part of our initiative to keep parents involved and informed, we have decided to create a free website in which the Parent Committee as well as the staff will update important information. Please feel free to comment on posts and participate in an open discussion. Questions and comments are greatly appreciated.
